2017 Merlot
Rustic Fruit with a Hint of Smokiness
Rand Sealey - 18.5/20 points
Tasting Notes
Sometimes a wine speaks in whispers and you must take the time to listen. This wine first speaks softly of rustic, dark, brooding fruit and gripping tannins. But as it opens, it sings of Bing cherry fruit, with hints of rosemary and a touch of smokiness. We believe this is a Merlot that thinks it's a Cab!

Rand Sealey: This is a fine rendition of Walla Walla Merlot. Ruby-garnet colored, it emits sensuous aromas of wild raspberries, Bing cherries, Damson plums, rosebuds, tobacco, oregano, sage and incense. The flavors mirror the aromatics with generous yet focused red fruits that are imbued with red licorice, Swiss chocolate and silt and basalt minerals. The back picks up framboise and kirsch liqueurs, roasted pecans, mocha and graphite on the way to an herb dusted moderate tannin and acid finish. 18.5/20 points.
